Abandoned

carnelian days
of
the most vivid orange
dance across
the haze
of my mind,
autumn ravaged us in the
leaves of her love;
we were savage,
feral
in a deep passionate embrace
that startled even trees
into bowing their
crowned
heads at our feet
i thought weŽd
last forever
with a thousand carnelian necklaces
of autumn abreast us,
and the rest of the world holding us
in awe;
perhaps, i got a little carried away
thought iŽd always be your fae
once likened us to romeo and juliet
i was a fool
you would never die for me,
although i would have died a thousand deaths
to spare you from its sting.
