Serving Write
Bruce McRae
They broke my little black heart.
Those mealy-mouthed, sod-minded,
streptococcus-ridden gobdaws.
That wasn´t mentioned in the manual
for The Graveyard School of Poetry.
That wasn´t covered in the guidebook.
I admit some moral shortcomings,
I might be shy a quality or two;
but what they wrote is indefensible,
their slights intractable and cruel.
That´s my story, and I´m sticking with it.
And I´ve got a lawyer. And he´s vicious too.
"Justice in the extreme is often unjust,"
he said. And at these prices I believe him.
