Origami
Jody Zolli
I find myself unfolding
An emotional origami
Of deeply hidden surfaces
Interred long ago
Under awkward, urgent shapes
Pleats concealing pain
I can’t quite recall
Folding in upon myself
Creased, clouded, convolute.
Set off by slight things
I keep falling
Into my own pockets
A thought pirouettes
Where it shouldn’t ought
And disappears me with it
I’m ill at ease
In my alien landscape
Uncharted territory
I sit, survey, surmise
A stranger to my own
Inner architecture
I must map myself
Sense my seismology
Master this strange terrain
